Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of characters who will split off from the main group to begin their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose death started the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, attacking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the party reach places they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that control the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This results in them few options but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
What’s Next?
From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Schemers parties.
Audiences can look forward to learning which players will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
